Whether you want to lose weight, train for a marathon or simply get fit, using a qualified PT will help you achieve your goals, without causing you pain or injury. A good personal trainer has a background in sports science and more often than not has specialised in one or two areas of sport. I want to lose weight but I do not want to increase my muscle mass. Is that possible?

You can lose weight and tone up at the same time (as females often ask!). Muscle does not increase immediately in females due to different hormones compared to a man. In order to lose weight, doing continuous aerobic repetitions (12-15) and doing more sets will work for females as well as increasing your heart rate and a variety of training.

The ultimate aim will always be to either lose weight or just to get fit!


Why am I not getting the results when I constantly work out?

Despite all my hard work training really hard, I am not losing weight or getting fitter. You need to go into this with the right frame of mind and not to put yourself under pressure, otherwise you will not get the desired result.
People go the gym and run fast on the treadmill or do short sharp training bursts, they do not bother about the level of training intensity, the time, the repetitiions and body positioning or the nutrional element of their diet. Consequently they end up ultimately putting on the extra weight. So make sure whilst you are training, you are on the right path and not pushing too hard or taking it too easy. Ensure you take care in your posture during your daily life and as a result you will help increase your fitness longer term.



What is the key to weight loss and building a trim attractive body?

Some of the key factors is that you need to train at the right heart rate. During the consultation, we take and calculate your cardio heart rate and also calculate the mean and maximum heart rate. You will need to know your relaxing heart rate before you do any fitness activity. This is key to losing weight but in addition, a good nutrional plan including the right amount of minerals, carbls, protein and fat need to be taken into account. To help achieve a trim body, a quick explosive work out, weight lifting, boot camp, kettle bell training, boxing and martial arts training, aerobic fat burning training, running, cycling and swimming are all different forms of exercise that help achieve that target.
